What Do You Need To Install An Ice Machine?

Commercial ice machines are invaluable to the restaurant industry. Every bar that serves a variety of drinks must have an ice machine to keep up with the demand. Customers enjoy ice in their drinks and if the bar is unable to accommodate this need then the customer will simply go to another bar. Once you've decided on an ice machine, the next step will be to prepare your kitchen for the installation of this catering equipment. Installing one of these machines is not too complicated but it is advisable to get someone who knows what they're doing to install it for you. Perhaps you have an employee who is handy and familiar with electronic catering equipment who could do this for you. Firstly, allocate an area and clear the space for the unit. Ensure that you measure the unit and clear sufficient space for a perfect fit. Read all installation instructions specific to the ice machine that you procured. Although most ice machines are quite similar, there may be specifications that are unique to the one that you have so familiarise yourself with what is required. Wherever you allocate the space for the unit, you will need to have access to a drain for the water that dispenses from the machine. If you have a drain there currently, that's great. Follow the instructions to fit the unit to the drainage system. If you don't have a drain then you will have to get a plumber to place a drain or to connect additional pipes to lead to the nearest drain. This type of catering equipment is usually operated electronically therefore it will need to be near a plug point. It is advisable to have multiple plug points in your commercial kitchen so that you don't overload one circuit board. If you can have one plug point for the ice machine, that would be ideal. Ensure that it is not far from the unit and the cord is long enough to reach it. If the cord is not long enough, you can simply connect an extension cord. Once the area, drain and plug points have been established then you can unpack the ice machine. Make sure that you remove all the plastic and cardboard packaging from the unit. Check that all the parts are included and fitted accordingly. Connect the ice machine to the drainage system and plug it in. Add water as indicated to test whether the catering equipment is functioning properly. Now you're all set up and ready to serve.
