Henry Moore Studios and Gardens is tucked away in the pretty hamlet of Perry Green in the Hertfordshire countryside. You will find it at Dane Tree House, Perry Green, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire SG10 6EE. It was the home and workplace of the famous British sculptor Henry Moore, and now his old studios, house and 70 acres of gardens are open to the public with his huge bronze sculptures sitting right in the landscape. It is a lovely quiet area but there is plenty nearby to make a full day out. Right in the centre of Much Hadham village itself you have the Much Hadham Forge Museum, a small community museum in a 200 year old forge showing the history of the village from Bronze Age to today. If you like castles and grand houses, you are not far from Bishop's Stortford with its ruined Norman Waytemore Castle, and Hertford Castle with its free gardens. You are also close to Ware with its own museum in Priory Lodge and Scott's Grotto, the largest shell grotto in the UK. A little further you can visit Knebworth House, a gothic stately home, and Audley End House and Gardens, a magnificent Jacobean palace just over the border in Essex. It is a very peaceful spot but surrounded by historic market towns, museums and stately homes.
