Gjilan

Gjilan, located in eastern Kosovo near the border with Serbia and North Macedonia, is one of the country's most important regional centres. Known for its lively atmosphere, traditional markets and surrounding countryside, the city combines Ottoman heritage with modern urban development. Gjilan serves as a cultural hub for the Anamorava region and offers visitors a mix of historical landmarks, religious architecture and local traditions. While it may not be as famous as some larger Balkan cities, it offers visitors an authentic glimpse into the cultural diversity and historical layers that characterize eastern Kosovo.
