Borth Station Museum

About

Located within the historic railway station in the seaside village of Borth, Borth Station Museum is a charming community heritage centre that preserves the story of both the railway and the people who lived and worked along this stretch of the Welsh coast. Opened in 2011 by a dedicated team of volunteers, the museum transformed the old station building into a fascinating attraction celebrating local history and transport heritage. One of the museum’s most interesting features is that it occupies the station’s original rooms, allowing visitors to step back into the golden age of rail travel. The carefully restored ticket office retains many original features, including the ticket hatch, desk and fireplace. These authentic surroundings help recreate the atmosphere of a busy Victorian and Edwardian railway station. Inside, visitors will find hundreds of artefacts connected to the railway and the surrounding community. Exhibits explore how the arrival of the railway transformed Borth, encouraging tourism while supporting local industries such as fishing, coastal shipping, agriculture and lead mining. Historical photographs, memorabilia and personal stories offer a fascinating glimpse into everyday life in the region.
