Llandudno Museum

About

Situated in the heart of Llandudno, just a short walk from the famous seafront, Llandudno Museum offers a fascinating journey through the history of one of Wales’s best-loved seaside resorts. Despite its modest size, the museum contains an impressive collection of artefacts and exhibitions that tell the story of the town and the wider Creuddyn Peninsula from prehistoric times to the present day. One of the museum’s most interesting exhibits relates to the area’s ancient past. Visitors can learn about the region’s earliest inhabitants, including Blodwen, the “Neolithic Lady of the Little Orme,” whose remains provide a remarkable connection to life thousands of years ago. The museum also displays important Roman artefacts discovered at Kanovium Roman Fort, including a rare Roman strategy game known as Latrunculi or “Little Soldiers.” The galleries explore many aspects of local life, from the growth of Llandudno as a Victorian holiday destination to its experiences during the World Wars. Particularly memorable are exhibits dedicated to local hero Colonel Arnold and his ingenious Musical Box Tank from the First World War, along with displays explaining how government departments relocated to North Wales during the Blitz.
