Amgueddfa Corwen Museum

About

Tucked away in the historic town of Corwen, Amgueddfa Corwen Museum is a small but engaging community museum dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of the town and the surrounding Edeyrnion region. Housed in a former chapel on London Road, the museum is run by enthusiastic local volunteers who have created a fascinating collection celebrating the people, traditions, and history of this beautiful part of North Wales. Although modest in size, the museum is packed with stories and artefacts that reveal how Corwen developed over the centuries. Visitors can explore displays of historic photographs, documents, memorabilia, and objects connected with local life. The exhibitions highlight important aspects of the area’s past, from rural communities and agriculture to transport, education, and cultural traditions. One of the most interesting themes explored by the museum is Corwen’s connection to Welsh cultural life. Exhibits feature material relating to local Eisteddfodau, including items linked to the famous National Eisteddfod held in Corwen in 1919 and the first Urdd Eisteddfod in 1929. These displays help visitors understand the town’s significant contribution to Welsh language, music, and literature.
