Stori Brymbo

About

Stori Brymbo is one of Wrexham’s most exciting heritage attractions, telling the story of a community shaped by ironmaking, coal mining, and steel production. Located on the site of the former Brymbo Steelworks, the centre celebrates an industrial legacy that played a vital role in the development of North Wales and supplied steel across Britain and beyond. The museum brings to life the history of Brymbo through a combination of artefacts, photographs, personal stories, and interactive displays. Rather than focusing solely on machinery and industry, Stori Brymbo highlights the people behind the steelworks, exploring how generations of local families worked at the site and built a strong sense of community around it. Inside, visitors can discover exhibits that trace Brymbo’s transformation from a rural settlement into a major industrial centre. Historic tools, workplace memorabilia, and archive material reveal the scale of steel production and the technological advances that took place over the years. Displays also explain the challenging conditions faced by workers and the importance of the industry to the local economy.
