Hohenzollerisches Landesmuseum

About

Located in the historic Old Castle of Hechingen, the Hohenzollerisches Landesmuseum offers a fascinating journey through more than 100,000 years of history. As one of the most important regional collections in Baden-Württemberg, the museum tells the story of the Hohenzollern lands, from prehistoric times to the era of the princes who gave the famous dynasty its name. One of the museum’s most remarkable attractions is its archaeological collection. Visitors can discover artifacts dating back to the Stone Age, including evidence of some of the earliest human activity in the region. A particular highlight is the richly furnished Bronze Age double grave from around 1000 BC, one of the museum’s most famous treasures. The permanent exhibition spans an impressive period from prehistory to modern times. Along the way, visitors encounter medieval relics, paintings, sculptures, religious art, and everyday objects that illustrate life in the former Counties and Principalities of Hohenzollern. Portraits, furniture, tableware, and cultural artifacts provide a vivid glimpse into aristocratic and local traditions.
