Founded in 1823, the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) Gallery is one of Ireland’s oldest and most prestigious artist-led institutions, located on Ely Place in central Dublin. It features state-of-the-art galleries, artist studios, and a renowned art school, offering a vibrant platform for contemporary Irish art. The RHA stages free public exhibitions year-round, including the celebrated Annual Exhibition—now in its 195th year—which showcases painting, sculpture, photography, and architectural models from over 350 artists. Under the direction of Patrick T. Murphy, the gallery underwent a major refurbishment in 2009, enhancing its role as a cultural hub. Recent highlights include the RCSI Art Award and bicentennial celebrations that reflect the Academy’s enduring commitment to artistic excellence and public engagement. With its inclusive ethos and dynamic programming, the RHA Gallery continues to shape Ireland’s visual arts landscape, attracting both seasoned collectors and curious visitors.

The Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) Gallery is located at Gallagher Gallery, 15 Ely Place, Dublin 2, just a two-minute walk from St Stephen’s Green. It is one of Dublin’s leading public art galleries, showcasing a dynamic mix of contemporary Irish and international art across five gallery spaces, including exhibitions of emerging and established artists. The RHA also hosts Ireland’s longest-running annual open submission exhibition from June to August, featuring a diverse range of artworks for sale.
