Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur is perched on Mont-Gros, a wooded hill to the east of Nice, with its main entrance on Boulevard de l’Observatoire in the 06300 district, overlooking the city and the Baie des Anges at about 370 metres above sea level. The site occupies around 35 hectares of protected natural parkland dotted with historic Belle Époque buildings, making it feel secluded yet still only a short drive from Nice’s port area and the central Old Town. Nearby are the scenic corniche roads leading towards Villefranche-sur-Mer and Èze, several hiking paths along the Mont-Gros ridge, and residential quarters of Riquier and Mont Boron, while tram and bus links in the lower city provide access up to the observatory’s meeting points for guided visits.
