Tomos, founded in 1954, became famous for producing mopeds that carried generations of riders—from students commuting to school to workers travelling across the coast. The museum captures this spirit through a vibrant collection of original models, prototypes, and rare designs that chart the company’s evolution from simple utilitarian machines to stylish symbols of freedom. Inside, visitors can see early mopeds with minimalist frames, the legendary Automatic models that became a cultural phenomenon, and racing bikes that competed internationally. Technical displays reveal how Tomos engines were built, showing carburettors, pistons, and gear systems that made the brand reliable and easy to repair. The Tomos Museum is located in Koper, Slovenia, near the city center and the industrial area where the famous Tomos factory once operated. The museum is dedicated to the history of Tomos, the Slovenian company known worldwide for its motorcycles, mopeds, and outboard motors. Inside, visitors can see a rich collection of Tomos models from the 1950s onward, including classic mopeds like the Colibri and Automatic, racing motorcycles, prototypes, and engines. Because the museum sits close to Koper’s old town, several attractions are nearby. The historic center is a short walk away, where Tito Square forms the heart of the city with the Praetorian Palace, the Cathedral of the Assumption with its bell tower, and the Venetian Loggia. The old town’s narrow streets reveal palaces, churches, and hidden courtyards that reflect Koper’s Venetian heritage.
