Museum of the National Liberation War
Museum of the National Liberation War in Kruševo is a powerful tribute to the town’s role in the struggle against fascism during the Second World War. The Museum of the National Liberation War in Krushevo is a small but meaningful museum dedicated to the partisan history of Macedonia during World War II. It is located in the upper part of town at Toshe Proeski nn, Gumenje, Krushevo 7550, North Macedonia, just east of the famous Ilinden Monument. The address is listed as 517 in some registries, but everyone knows it as the museum next to Makedonium, near the parking area at Gumenje. It was opened in 1988 and shows the story from the Ilinden Uprising and the Krushevo Republic in 1903 to the partisan detachment Pitu Guli during the National Liberation War from 1941 to 1945, with photographs, documents and personal items. Because it sits right next to Makedonium, you have the best of Krushevo around you. The Makedonium - Ilinden Monument itself is the main landmark, a huge futuristic monument that dominates the hill above town and can be seen from everywhere. A short walk down brings you to the Historical Museum of the Ilinden Uprising in the old bazaar, where the Krushevo Republic was proclaimed, and to the Nikola Martinoski Art Gallery in a 200-year-old traditional house. Nearby you also have the Toshe Proeski Memorial House dedicated to the famous singer, the Church of St. Nicholas, and the old authentic Krushevo houses
