Lytham Hall

Lytham Hall, hidden within 78 acres of wooded parkland near the Fylde coast, is one of Lancashire’s finest Georgian houses. Built in the 1760s for the Clifton family, it is an unusually pure example of Palladian architecture, with a perfectly balanced façade and interiors that still carry the elegance of the era. An interesting fact is that the Cliftons lived here for more than 400 years, shaping local history through politics, philanthropy, and even aviation—John Talbot Clifton funded early polar exploration. Inside, the entrance hall sets the tone with classical proportions and decorative plasterwork. The Dining Room, lined with portraits, reveals the family’s long lineage, while the Drawing Room showcases delicate stucco, tall windows, and period furniture that reflects Georgian taste. The Library is one of the most atmospheric spaces, filled with books collected over generations and offering a glimpse into the intellectual life of the estate. Upstairs, the bedrooms retain original fireplaces and textiles, giving a sense of domestic life rather than museum formality. The house also displays Clifton memorabilia, including travel artefacts and personal objects that add warmth and character.
