Eden Camp Modern History Museum

Eden Camp Modern History Museum is one of North Yorkshire’s most distinctive heritage sites, set within the preserved huts of a former Second World War prisoner‑of‑war camp. Opened as a museum in 1987, it offers an immersive, sensory journey through 20th‑century conflict and social change. Its unusual setting is part of the appeal: each original hut houses a themed exhibition, allowing visitors to walk through history in the very buildings where POWs once lived. Inside, the displays cover the full sweep of wartime experience. The Blitz hut uses sound, light, and recreated street scenes to convey the chaos of air raids.
