Cusworth Hall

Cusworth Hall is one of those lovely Georgian gems that makes you feel like you have stepped back in time, but it is still very easy and relaxed to visit. You will find it at Cusworth Hall Museum and Park, Cusworth Lane, Cusworth, Doncaster, South Yorkshire DN5 7TU. It sits just two miles north of Doncaster, signposted from the A1 and A638, surrounded by its own historic parkland with lakes, walled gardens and woodland walks. The hall itself is Grade I listed and now houses the Museum of South Yorkshire Life. What is nice about this spot is how much else is close by. You are literally inside Cusworth Park, so you can make a whole day of picnics and walks. Just up the road is Brodsworth Hall and Gardens, another beautiful English Heritage property with amazing formal gardens. If you like a bit of wildlife, Yorkshire Wildlife Park is very near and great for families. For more history, Conisbrough Castle is a short drive away and is one of South Yorkshire's most impressive medieval ruins. In Doncaster itself you have Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery and the Minster. And if you love big stately homes, Wentworth Woodhouse and Wentworth Castle Gardens are both within easy reach for a longer tour of the area.
