It sits inside Worsbrough Mill Country Park, right next to the reservoir, and it is one of the few places where you can still see a 17th century water powered mill and a 19th century steam mill working and actually grinding flour. The whole site feels very peaceful and old fashioned. The mill is surrounded by the country park itself, so you can go for a walk around the reservoir, spot birds and wildlife, and enjoy the cafe. It is a really easy family afternoon. Nearby there is plenty more to see. In Barnsley town centre you have Experience Barnsley Museum and the Town Hall for local history. Just a short drive away is Elsecar Heritage Centre with its craft shops, vintage shops and heritage railway. If you love historic houses and gardens, Cannon Hall Museum, Park and Gardens and Wentworth Castle Gardens with Stainborough Castle are both very close. For a bigger day out, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Brodsworth Hall and Gardens and Wentworth Woodhouse are all within easy reach and make a perfect combo with a morning at the mill.
