Located in the heart of Konstanz, the Rosgarten Museum is one of the oldest museums in southern Germany and offers a fascinating journey through the history, culture, and daily life of the Lake Constance region. Founded in 1870 and housed in a historic medieval guild hall, the museum combines local history with art, archaeology, and cultural heritage, making it one of Konstanz’s most important attractions. One of the museum’s most interesting facts is its location in the former Butchers’ Guild House, a beautifully preserved historic building that has been a landmark of the city for centuries. The museum was established to preserve the heritage of Konstanz and the surrounding region, creating a rich collection that spans from prehistoric times to the modern era. Inside, visitors can explore archaeological finds that reveal the area's ancient past, including prehistoric artifacts and objects from the Roman period. The collections continue through the Middle Ages, displaying weapons, tools, furniture, clothing, and decorative items that illustrate everyday life in one of the most important trading centers on Lake Constance.
