Located in Konstanz on the shores of Lake Constance, the Bodensee-Naturmuseum offers an engaging introduction to one of Central Europe’s most fascinating natural landscapes. Dedicated to the wildlife, geology, and ecosystems of the Lake Constance region, the museum provides visitors with a deeper understanding of the natural world that surrounds Germany’s largest lake. One of the museum’s most interesting features is its focus on the unique environment shared by Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Lake Constance is not only a major freshwater reservoir but also an important habitat for countless species of fish, birds, insects, and plants. Through interactive displays and detailed exhibits, visitors can discover how this remarkable ecosystem has evolved and why it remains so important today. Inside, visitors can explore realistic dioramas featuring native wildlife in their natural habitats. Displays showcase local mammals, water birds, fish, and insects, offering a close look at species that live around the lake and in the surrounding wetlands. The museum’s aquariums are among its main attractions, allowing guests to observe native freshwater fish and learn about the underwater world of Lake Constance.
