Place du Capitole is the central square in the heart of Toulouse, serving as the city's historic and vibrant epicenter, dominated by the grand Neoclassical facade of the Capitole building that houses City Hall and the Théâtre du Capitole opera house. Fully pedestrianized since the 1990s, it lies at the crossroads of key streets like Rue du Taur to the north and is surrounded by canopied café terraces reminiscent of Venice's St. Mark's Square, with the Garonne River nearby to the south.
