Wardown House, Museum and Gallery is located at Old Bedford Road, Luton LU2 7HA, set in the landscaped grounds of Wardown Park on the edge of Luton town centre. The Grade II listed Victorian mansion dates from the 1870s and became Luton’s museum in 1931. Inside you’ll find period rooms, art exhibitions, and displays on Bedfordshire’s lace-making and hat-making heritage, alongside military collections, local social history, and interactive exhibits for families. The house has a café overlooking the park, free entry, and two floors to explore with a lift for accessibility. Wardown House sits within Wardown Park, a 34-acre Victorian park with a lake, boating, tennis courts, playground, miniature railway, and tree-lined walks that are popular year-round. The park’s peaceful gardens and wildlife make it a favorite for picnics and photography. A short walk south leads to Luton town centre, where you’ll find The Mall Luton shopping centre, Luton Central Library, and St Mary’s Church, a medieval parish church with impressive architecture and stained glass.
