The Botanical Garden of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra is one of the city’s most diverse green spaces, created in 1982 as a living laboratory for students and a peaceful retreat for visitors. Spread across several themed zones, it showcases more than a thousand plant species, making it one of the richest collections in western Slovakia. Among the most interesting features is the arboretum, where native and exotic trees form a calm, shaded landscape ideal for quiet walks. The rock garden highlights alpine and steppe plants arranged in naturalistic formations, while the ornamental section displays colourful perennials and seasonal flower compositions. A small pond ecosystem attracts birds and amphibians, adding to the garden’s biodiversity. Inside the greenhouses, visitors can explore tropical and subtropical plants, including palms, succulents, and economically important species used in agricultural research. Educational panels throughout the garden explain plant origins, ecological roles, and cultivation methods, making the visit both relaxing and informative.

The Botanická záhrada SPU (Botanical Garden of the Slovak University of Agriculture) is located at Trieda Andreja Hlinku 2 in Nitra-Chrenová, Slovakia, directly within the compound of the Slovak University of Agriculture. The garden spans 21.2 hectares and lies between the university campus and the Chrenová residential district. This botanical garden is a serene escape filled with diverse plant life, featuring tropical and subtropical plants, park areas, greenhouses, a mini zoo, fruit orchards, and vineyards. It houses over 3,765 plant taxa and 1,000 species, making it both a scientific facility and a peaceful visitor destination. Near the garden, visitors can explore several attractions. The Museum of the Slovak Agricultural University, located on campus, offers exhibits related to agriculture and the natural environment. The large Agrokomplex exhibition center, which hosts agricultural fairs, trade shows, and cultural events, is nearby. The N-CENTRO shopping center with food and refreshments is close to the garden. For a broader Nitra experience, the historic Nitra Castle and St. Emmeram's Cathedral are about 7 km away. The Nitra Calvary pilgrimage site with panoramic city views, the historic Nitra Synagogue (1911), and the Andrej Bagar Theatre are all within easy reach.
