The Botanical Garden of Tirana is located in the southern part of the city, near the foot of the Tirana and Kruja mountains, at approximately 41°18′37″N 19°48′22″E. Covering 15 hectares, it is Albania’s only botanical garden and is managed by the University of Tirana. Established in 1971, the garden features around 2,000 plant species, including rare and endemic Albanian flora, and serves as both a peaceful retreat and a center for botanical research. Adjacent to the garden is the Grand Park of Tirana, a vast urban green space with an artificial lake, walking and cycling paths, playgrounds, and the Presidential Palace. The park also contains the National Martyrs’ Cemetery and Saint Procopius Church, offering a blend of natural beauty and cultural landmarks. The University of Tirana campus and Mother Teresa Square are nearby, making the area a hub for both academic and recreational activities.
