You’ll find it on Strada Cloșca or Piața Iancu de Hunedoara, in the city center, close to the main pedestrian areas. The museum collects and displays authentic artifacts that show everyday life under communism: schoolbooks and wooden desks in a reconstructed classroom, military uniforms and medals from the collection of reserve officer Romica Birsan, household items like sewing machines and vintage televisions, toys, photographs, documents, and furniture. The museum sits in central Hunedoara, so major attractions are within walking distance. Just a few minutes away is Corvin Castle, also called Hunyadi Castle, one of Europe’s largest Gothic-Renaissance fortresses with its drawbridge, knights’ hall, and legends tying it to Vlad the Impaler. The History Museum of Hunedoara, Muzeul Trenulețelor “Valentin Banciu” with its detailed model railways, and Muzeul De Casute MARC dollhouse museum are all close by. Stroll along Pietonala Corvin, the modern pedestrian boulevard, to reach the Musical Fountain and Casa de Cultură.
