The Museum of the Albanian Alphabet is located a little north of the city center, at Boulevard 1st of May 25, Bitola, North Macedonia. It is housed in the building where the Congress of Manastir was held in 1908, when the modern Albanian alphabet was standardized. The location is great for sightseeing because everything in Bitola is close. Right nearby is the Yeni Mosque, one of the most beautiful Ottoman mosques in town, and a few minutes walk takes you to the NI Institute and Museum Bitola itself, set in the old barracks where Ataturk once studied. Heading south you quickly reach Shirok Sokak, the main pedestrian street full of cafes and 19th-century architecture, the Clock Tower, the Church of St. Demetrius, and the old Bezisten covered bazaar. The Isak Celebi Mosque is also just around the corner. It is all walkable, so you can easily combine the Alphabet Museum with the main museums, mosques and churches of central Bitola in one easy afternoon.
