Portal de Valldigna
The Portal de Valldigna is one of the most evocative remnants of medieval Valencia, marking the historic boundary between the Christian city and the old Moorish quarter. Built in 1400 by order of King Martin I, the stone arch once served as a symbolic gateway separating two distinct communities while allowing controlled passage between them. Today, it stands quietly in a narrow street of the El Carmen district, framed by traditional houses and decorated with a restored ceramic panel depicting the Virgin. Although modest in size, the arch carries centuries of cultural memory and offers a rare glimpse into the layered history of the city.
