Oset and Rynningeviken Nature Reserve

Oset and Rynningeviken Nature Reserve is located just east of central Örebro, directly by the shores of Lake Hjälmaren and along the lower reaches of the River Svartån, roughly a couple of kilometres from the city centre. It is easily accessible by bike or local bus, with the main entrance and the Naturens hus (House of Nature) situated near the city hospital, marked by signs pointing towards the nature centre and the reserve. Nearby attractions include Lake Hjälmaren itself, one of Sweden’s largest lakes, offering views, boating and fishing opportunities that can be enjoyed from the reserve’s wetlands and walking paths. The Reservens hus complex provides a café, nature exhibitions and information about the area, serving as a natural starting point for walks, birdwatching and family outings. The extensive network of footpaths and cycle paths around Oset and Rynningeviken also links well with Gustavsvik, the city’s large lakeside leisure and water‑park area, which is a short bus or car ride away and includes pools, slides, beaches and outdoor sports. Central Örebro with its main sights such as Örebro Castle, Stortorget, Stadsparken, Stadsträdgården and Wadköping Open‑Air Museum are within easy reach by bike or bus, allowing visitors to combine a visit to the reserve with city culture and green spaces in one flexible day out.
