10. Sigulda bobsleigh

Sigulda Bobsleigh and Luge Track is one of Latvia’s most thrilling sporting landmarks, carved into the forested slopes of the Gauja Valley. Opened in 1986, it was the first track of its kind in the Baltics and quickly became a training ground for world‑class athletes in bobsleigh, skeleton, and luge. Its 1,420‑metre course includes 16 curves, sharp drops, and high‑speed straights that can push professional sleds to more than 120 km/h. One of the track’s most interesting features is its accessibility. Unlike many international tracks, Sigulda allows visitors to experience the ride themselves. In winter, tourists can join a “soft bob” run, reaching impressive speeds while guided by professional pilots. In summer, a wheeled bobsleigh offers a similarly exhilarating descent without ice. The venue has hosted numerous European and World Cup events, strengthening Latvia’s reputation as a powerhouse in sliding sports. Surrounded by forests and dramatic valley views, the Sigulda Bobsleigh Track blends adrenaline, engineering, and natural beauty, making it one of the region’s most memorable attractions.
