Senovinių arbatinukų galerija is one of Biržai’s most charming small museums, dedicated entirely to the art, craft, and symbolism of the teapot. Housed in an intimate, homelike setting, the gallery showcases a surprisingly rich collection gathered over decades, ranging from delicate porcelain pieces to whimsical modern designs. Each teapot tells a story: some reflect old European craftsmanship, others reveal Asian influences, and many capture everyday humour or regional traditions. Inside, visitors can explore themed displays that highlight unusual shapes, rare materials, and decorative techniques. Miniature teapots, travel sets, and character‑shaped designs often become favourites, offering a playful contrast to the more classical pieces. The gallery also presents insights into tea culture, showing how teapots evolved alongside social rituals and domestic life. Its cosy atmosphere encourages slow browsing, making it a delightful stop for anyone interested in design, nostalgia, or the quiet beauty of everyday objects.
Biržai Lithuania
The Senovinių arbatinukų galerija (Gallery of Antique Teapots) is located in Biržai, a town in northern Lithuania near the Latvian border. It is housed in the specialty shop “Biržų arbatinė” on Vytauto g. 12, in the heart of the town, close to the main square and a short walk from the famous Biržai Castle complex beside Lake Širvėna. The space also functions as a tea shop and cultural meeting point, where the love for tea culture is central to the experience. Nearby, the most important attraction is Biržai Castle, a well-preserved bastion fortress with the Biržai Region Museum “Sėla,” interactive warfare exhibitions, and historic fortifications. Across Lake Širvėna, the long pedestrian footbridge leads to the beautiful 19th-century Astravas Manor, perfect for a scenic walk. In the wider town, you can explore Julius Janonis Square, the Evangelical Reformed Church, the narrow-gauge railway complex, and the Biržai Regional Park Visitor Centre. Just outside the town, notable natural sites include the Kirkilai Lakes and Observation Tower, the striking Kirkilai karst sinkholes, the Cow Cave, and Smardone Spring in Likėnai Park in Biržai Regional Park.
