The Nikola Petrov Art Gallery is right in the heart of Vidin, where you can easily find it on foot while exploring the center. You will find it at pl. Bdintsi 2, 3700 Vidin Center, Vidin, Bulgaria. The gallery is set inside a beautiful neoclassical building from 1892, which used to be the old Military Club, and it sits just on the edge of the Danube Park, only a few minutes from the riverbank and about 150 meters from the main city center. It has been open since 1961 and is named after the well-known local painter Nikola Petrov. The location is perfect because almost everything interesting is nearby. Just a short walk through the park and you are at the Danube River promenade. Right next to the park is the famous Baba Vida Fortress, the best preserved medieval castle in Bulgaria and the symbol of Vidin. Very close by you also have the Konaka Museum, housed in a historic Ottoman building with rich ethnographic and history collections. A few minutes away is St. Dimitar Cathedral, the second largest church in Bulgaria after Alexander Nevski in Sofia, and the impressive Vidin Synagogue. The Vidin Drama Theatre, St. Panteleimon Church and the small art shops around the center are all within walking distance, so you can easily make a full cultural tour starting from the gallery.
