National Museum of Education in Korçë occupies the very building where the first Albanian‑language school opened in 1887, making it one of the country’s most meaningful cultural landmarks. Its modest façade hides a powerful story: the struggle to preserve Albanian identity during a period when teaching in the national language was forbidden. The museum carefully recreates the atmosphere of that pioneering school, allowing visitors to step directly into a turning point in Albania’s cultural history. Inside, the most compelling room is the original classroom, complete with wooden desks, ink pots, and early textbooks that show how students first learned to read and write in Albanian. The museum also displays rare documents from the Rilindja movement, along with photographs of the teachers who risked their safety to keep the school running. Another highlight is the printing section, where early primers and teaching materials reveal how language became a tool of national awakening. Together, these exhibits form a vivid narrative of courage, education, and cultural resilience.
