Vangjush Mio House Museum

Vangjush Mio House Museum in Korçë preserves the legacy of Vangjush Mio, Albania’s first true impressionist painter and one of the country’s most beloved landscape artists. Set inside his former home and studio, the museum offers an intimate look at the environment where Mio lived, worked, and shaped a new visual language for Albanian art. The house itself, with its traditional Korçë architecture, adds warmth and authenticity to the experience. Inside, the highlight is Mio’s studio, left much as it was during his lifetime. Visitors can see his easel, brushes, pigments, and sketches—objects that reveal his meticulous process and his fascination with light and seasonal change. The main gallery displays a rotating selection of his paintings, including serene Korçë landscapes, autumn scenes, and portraits that showcase his delicate colour palette and atmospheric style. Another engaging section features personal photographs, letters, and documents that trace Mio’s artistic development and his travels abroad. These materials show how he absorbed European influences while remaining deeply rooted in Albanian scenery.
