The Folklore Museum of the Society for Epirus Studies, often called the Frontzos Folklore Museum, is located in the heart of Ioannina, Greece. You can find this cultural site at 28 October Street 44, Ioannina 454 44, set inside a beautifully restored nineteenth-century stone manor that showcases traditional Epirote architecture. The museum holds a rich collection of regional heritage, including traditional costumes, woven textiles, fine silver jewelry, rare books, and domestic tools that show how people lived in Epirus across past centuries. Because of its central location, stepping outside the museum puts you within an easy walk of Ioannina's top sights. A short stroll brings you to Litharitsia Park, a peaceful green space where you will find the Archaeological Museum of Ioannina, home to ancient artifacts from Dodona and surrounding sites. Continuing down toward the water leads you directly to the grand stone walls of the Castle of Ioannina. Inside the fortress complex, you can wander up to the citadel of Its Kale to visit the Byzantine Museum and the Silversmithing Museum. On the northern side of the fortress, you can check out the Municipal Ethnographic Museum housed inside the historic Aslan Pasha Mosque. From the docks along the Lake Pamvotida promenade nearby, you can also catch a quick boat over to Ioannina Island to explore its quiet stone village, centuries-old monasteries, and the Ali Pasha Museum.
