Eastwood House, set within the landscaped grounds of Rouken Glen Park, is one of East Renfrewshire’s most elegant civic buildings. Originally a private mansion built in the 19th century, it later became the administrative heart of the local council, and today its refined architecture and parkland setting make it a distinctive landmark with a quietly dignified character. Inside, the house retains much of its period charm. High‑ceilinged rooms, tall sash windows and decorative plasterwork reflect the tastes of Victorian estate living. The entrance hall, with its sweeping staircase and carved details, offers a glimpse of the building’s former grandeur. Several rooms display historic photographs, maps and documents that trace the development of East Renfrewshire, giving visitors a sense of how the area evolved from rural estates to modern communities. One of the most interesting aspects is the contrast between the house’s domestic origins and its later civic role. Meeting rooms and offices occupy spaces that once served as parlours and bedrooms, creating an unusual blend of heritage and contemporary use.

Eastwood House is located in Eastwood Park on Rouken Glen Road, Giffnock, East Renfrewshire G46 6UG. It sits inside the park itself, right next to the council offices and the Eastwood Park Theatre, so it is very easy to find. The house is surrounded by gardens and parkland and has free parking, a cafe and it feels very peaceful despite being close to Glasgow. You have a lot to see right around it. The biggest attraction is Rouken Glen Park itself, one of the most popular parks in Scotland with a lovely waterfall, boating pond, gardens and great play areas for kids. Inside the same complex you have Eastwood Park Theatre which puts on shows and pantomimes. A short drive takes you to Pollok Country Park and Pollok House, a grand stately home run by the National Trust for Scotland, plus the Burrell Collection museum which is fantastic and free. You are also very close to the city centre of Glasgow, with all its museums like Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Riverside Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art.
