Potternewton Park, set in the heart of Chapeltown just two miles northeast of Leeds city centre, is a vibrant 32-acre green space with a strong community spirit. Known for its wide lawns, flowerbeds, and mature trees, the park also offers a wealth of facilities including tennis courts, a bowling green, a basketball court, a skate park, and a children’s playground. It is perhaps most famous as the home of the Leeds West Indian Carnival, the longest-running event of its kind in Europe, which transforms the park every August Bank Holiday into a celebration of Caribbean culture, music, and costume. Throughout the year, Potternewton Park is a hub for recreation and relaxation, from morning jogs and family outings to community gatherings and outdoor exercise on its fitness trail. Although there is no official parking on-site, street parking is widely available around the residential areas nearby.
