MHalle Schwerin is a dynamic cultural venue and performance space operated by the Mecklenburg State Theatre, located in the Großer Dreesch district. Originally built in 1975 as a printing hall for the Schweriner Volkszeitung, the building was transformed into a theater venue in 2022 following the closure of the E-Werk. The renovation preserved the industrial character of the space while adding a semi-circular glass extension overlooking Lake Fauler See. Spread across three floors and 2,000 square meters, MHalle includes a flexible stage with around 150 seats, rehearsal rooms, and event spaces. It hosts a wide range of performances—from drama and ballet to workshops and youth theater—serving as a creative hub for the community. The venue’s location in a socially diverse district underscores its mission to bridge cultural divides and foster inclusive artistic dialogue. With its bold “M” signage and modernized interior, MHalle stands as a symbol of Schwerin’s evolving cultural landscape.
