Ponte Vittorio Emanuele I
Ponte Vittorio Emanuele I is one of Turin’s most elegant and recognisable bridges, linking Piazza Vittorio Veneto with the Church of the Gran Madre di Dio across the Po River. Completed in the early nineteenth century and dedicated to King Vittorio Emanuele I, it was built to celebrate the return of the Savoy dynasty after the Napoleonic era. Its neoclassical design, harmonious proportions, and stone arches create a striking visual axis that frames some of the city’s most iconic views. The bridge is especially atmospheric at sunrise and sunset, when the river reflects the surrounding architecture and the hills of Turin.
