Sad Janka Kráľa is one of the oldest public parks in Central Europe, offering a peaceful retreat in Bratislava’s Petržalka district. Established between 1774 and 1776, the park was designed in the Baroque classicist style, with pathways arranged in an eight-point star and lined with rare trees, including bilobed ginkgo and Chinese redwood. The park’s most distinctive feature is its Gothic tower, originally part of the Franciscan Church, repurposed as a garden gazebo. At its heart stands a statue of Janko Kráľ, the renowned Slovak poet. Over the centuries, the park has evolved into a vibrant space for relaxation, cultural events, and outdoor activities, with areas for jogging, cycling, and family gatherings. Located between the Old Bridge and the New Bridge, it provides stunning views of the Danube River and serves as a green oasis amid the city’s urban landscape.

Sad Janka Kráľa is located in the northern part of Bratislava’s Petržalka borough, bordered by the Danube River to the north, the Old Bridge access road to the east, a main road to the south, and the New Bridge access road to the west. This historic public park, founded between 1774 and 1776, is considered the oldest in Central Europe and has an area of 42 hectares, featuring rare trees, circular spaces with zodiac elements, and the iconic Gothic tower gazebo originally from a Franciscan church.
