El Museo del Romanticismo se encuentra en la Calle de San Mateo, 13, en el barrio de Justicia, distrito Centro de Madrid, dentro de un palacete neoclásico del siglo XVIII que perteneció al marqués de Matallana. Su entorno inmediato es una zona vibrante, repleta de cafeterías, galerías y tiendas, y muy bien comunicada por metro (Tribunal y Alonso Martínez) y autobús. Muy cerca están el Museo de Historia de Madrid, la Plaza de Colón, la Estación de Chamberí y el Museo Arqueológico Nacional.
