Casa de Campo is Madrid’s largest urban park, covering over 1,500 hectares of natural landscapes, lakes, and recreational areas. Originally a royal hunting ground under Philip II, it became public in 1931 and has since been a favorite escape for locals and tourists alike. The park offers a mix of nature and entertainment, featuring the Madrid Zoo, an amusement park, and the iconic Teleférico cable car, which provides panoramic views of the city. Its vast trails attract joggers, cyclists, and hikers, while the central lake is lined with restaurants offering scenic dining. Casa de Campo also holds remnants of military structures from the Spanish Civil War, adding a historical dimension to its beauty. Casa de Campo Park is located at Paseo Puerta del Ángel, 1, on the western edge of central Madrid, just across the Manzanares River and west of the Royal Palace of Madrid. Originally a royal hunting estate, it is now the largest public park in Madrid, covering over 1,700 hectares. Inside the park, you’ll find the Madrid Zoo, the Parque de Atracciones amusement park, an artificial lake with restaurants and boat rentals, and extensive trails for walking, cycling, and running. The park is connected to the city by Metro lines 5 and 10 and the Teleférico cable car, which links it to Parque del Oeste. Its proximity to the Royal Palace, Madrid Río, and the Manzanares River makes it a key green space and recreational area for both locals and visitors.
