Anton von Scudier Park

Anton von Scudier Park is one of Timișoara’s oldest landscaped gardens, created in the late 19th century and named after the military governor who helped modernise the city. What makes the park particularly interesting is its blend of historical monuments and carefully planned greenery. It was once part of the old defensive belt, later transformed into a public garden as Timișoara shifted from fortress to modern European city. Inside, visitors find wide alleys shaded by mature trees, many over a century old. The central attraction is the monument dedicated to the Romanian soldiers of World War I, a striking sculptural ensemble that gives the park a solemn focal point. Nearby, a small ornamental lake adds charm, especially in spring when the surrounding vegetation blooms. The park also features themed flower beds that change with the seasons, offering a colourful backdrop for leisurely walks. Scudier Park is known for its calm atmosphere, making it a favourite for reading, quiet breaks, and family strolls. Its combination of history, memorials, and greenery creates a space that feels both reflective and welcoming—a gentle reminder of Timișoara’s layered past.
