Vidikovac Fortica Mostar is one of the city’s most spectacular viewpoints, perched high above Mostar on the slopes of Mount Hum. It offers a sweeping panorama of the Old Bridge, the Neretva River and the patchwork of neighbourhoods stretching across the valley. The site combines natural beauty with adrenaline‑filled attractions, making it a favourite stop for both locals and visitors. One of the most interesting facts is that Fortica is home to one of the longest urban zip‑lines in the region. Stretching across a dramatic cliffside, it gives riders the sensation of flying directly above Mostar. The viewpoint also features a giant metal cross, illuminated at night, which has become a recognizable landmark visible from almost every part of the city. Inside the complex, visitors can explore a network of walking paths, climbing routes and rest areas designed to showcase the rugged Herzegovinian landscape. A small café and terrace provide a perfect spot to enjoy the view, especially at sunset when the city glows in warm colours.

Location

The viewpoint is located at Fortica, 88000 Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is situated on the mountain ridges directly east of the city, accessible by a winding uphill road that takes you out of the urban center. Because the viewpoint is perched high on a mountain overlooking the valley, a short ten to fifteen-minute drive down the winding hillside road brings you straight back into Mostar's historical heart. Once you reach the center, you can cross the world-famous Stari Most, the sixteenth-century Old Bridge. Right next to the water, you can explore the Old Bridge Museum built into the medieval Tara Tower or walk through the bustling Kujundžiluk bazaar to visit the Museum of War and Genocide Victims and the Herzegovina Museum. If you want to see magnificent historic estates, you can also easily visit the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque or the elegant Biščević House palace, a grand seventeenth-century Ottoman residence resting over the riverbank.
