Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Mostar is one of the most significant Orthodox landmarks in Herzegovina, known for its striking modern design and symbolic role in the city’s post‑war renewal. The original 19th‑century cathedral was heavily damaged during the conflict, and its reconstruction created a unique blend of tradition and contemporary architecture that stands out in Mostar’s skyline. One of the most interesting facts is that the new cathedral incorporates fragments of the old structure, preserving historical continuity while embracing a fresh architectural identity. Its tall, clean lines and spacious interior reflect a modern interpretation of Orthodox sacred space, designed to evoke openness and light. Inside, visitors can admire a beautifully crafted iconostasis featuring vivid icons of saints and biblical scenes. The cathedral also houses restored liturgical objects saved from the ruins, each carrying a story of survival. The high dome and wide nave create an uplifting atmosphere, enhanced by natural light filtering through minimalist stained‑glass windows.

The cathedral is located at Konak No. 7, 88000, Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It sits on the scenic slopes of the Bjelušine neighborhood, perched just slightly uphill on the eastern side of the Neretva River, making it highly visible from the center. Thanks to its elevated position right above the historic core, you can easily walk down to Mostar’s primary attractions in just a few minutes. Strolling down the hillside lanes brings you directly to the bustling Kujundžiluk old bazaar and the legendary Stari Most, the iconic sixteenth-century Old Bridge. Right next to the bridge, you can tour the Old Bridge Museum inside the medieval Tara Tower, or visit the nearby Herzegovina Museum housed inside a historic Ottoman-era estate.
