Lazarica Church in Kruševac is one of the finest achievements of the Moravian architectural style and a defining monument of medieval Serbia. Built around 1375 by Prince Lazar, it served as the court church of Lazarev Grad and symbolized the cultural ambition of his short‑lived but influential state. Its compact form, decorative stone‑brick patterns and elegant rosettes make it a masterpiece of late medieval craftsmanship. Inside, the church reveals a surprisingly intimate atmosphere. The frescoes, though partially preserved, offer vivid glimpses into 14th‑century religious art, with expressive faces and delicate color transitions typical of the Moravian school. The carved stone iconostasis fragments are among the most interesting details, showing the refined sculptural tradition of Lazar’s court. The Lazarica Church, officially known as the Church of Saint Stephen, is a medieval Orthodox church located in the heart of Kruševac, Serbia, at Trg despota Stefana 15. Because the church sits directly inside Prince Lazar's 14th-century fortress grounds, stepping outside puts you right next to some of Serbia's most significant historical treasures. Right beside the church stand the remaining stone walls of the medieval castle keep, known as the Donjon Tower, along with a monument honoring Prince Lazar. Sharing the very same park complex is the National Museum Kruševac, which is housed in a handsome 19th-century building filled with rich archaeological, historical, and medieval exhibits. A short walk from the church into the central city square leads to several other key attractions. You can explore the House of Simić, a late 18th-century residence operating as an ethno-museum, or browse regional artwork at the Kruševac Art Gallery. The main square is also dominated by the impressive Monument to the Kosovo Heroes. If you want to take in panoramic city views, a quick drive south brings you to Bagdala Park and the unique Slobodište Memorial Complex.
