Church of St Veneranda is one of Bar’s most intimate historic landmarks, a small coastal church with roots in the 17th century. Dedicated to St Veneranda, a protector of travellers and sailors, it once served as a spiritual stop for people moving between the port and the old settlement of Topolica. Its simple stone façade and modest bell gable reflect the traditional architecture of the region, giving the church a quiet, timeless presence. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and understated. The main altar is the highlight, featuring an icon of St Veneranda surrounded by delicate wooden ornamentation typical of coastal workshops. Several smaller icons, donated by local families, line the walls and reveal the church’s long connection to Bar’s maritime community. Visitors often notice the soft natural light that enters through the narrow windows, creating a peaceful setting for reflection. One of the most interesting details is the preserved stone floor, worn smooth by centuries of footsteps. The church also keeps a small collection of liturgical objects used during feast days, offering insight into local religious traditions.
