Summer Stage in Stari Bar is one of the most atmospheric cultural spaces in Montenegro, set directly among the ruins of the medieval town. Created in the late 20th century, the stage was designed to blend modern performance with the dramatic stone backdrop of Old Bar’s fortifications. The result is a venue where concerts, theatre, and festivals unfold under open sky, surrounded by centuries of history. What makes the Summer Stage especially interesting is its location. The seating area is built into the natural slope beneath the fortress walls, so every performance takes place against a monumental setting of towers, arches, and illuminated ruins. At night, the lighting reveals details of the old masonry, turning the entire site into a living scenography. Inside the venue, visitors can explore the pathways leading to nearby historical structures before or after events. The proximity to St Nicholas’ Church, the Clock Tower, and the remains of the King’s Palace adds depth to the experience, making the Summer Stage feel like part of a larger historical narrative rather than a standalone theatre.

Summer Stage in Stari Bar is a beautiful open-air stage set inside the historic area of the Old Town, used for concerts, theatre and cultural festivals during the summer. It is located inside Stari Bar, Stari Bar, Bar, Montenegro, just below the main fortress walls, on the way from the old bazaar street towards the entrance of the Old Town. It is a small amphitheater surrounded by stone walls and olive trees, with a very relaxed atmosphere. Since it is in Stari Bar, you have the best sights right around you. The main attraction is the Old Town of Bar itself, the huge fortified ruined town with its churches, mosques and museum collections. Right in front of the entrance you have the Bar Aqueduct, the only preserved Aqueduct in Montenegro, and the charming Staro Barska Carsija with local shops and restaurants. Inside the Old Town you can visit the Church of St. Veneranda, the Church of St. George, the Omerbasic Mosque and the Citadel. Down in the new town you have King Nikola's Palace with its park and museum and the small Kalafatska Radionica Bokovac boat museum.
