The NS-Dokumentationszentrum München stands on the site of the former “Brown House,” once the Nazi Party headquarters, confronting Munich’s role as the “capital of the movement.” Opened in 2015, it serves as a place of learning and remembrance, presenting the history of National Socialism in a way that connects past events to present and future challenges. Its permanent exhibition, Munich and National Socialism, traces the rise of the Nazi movement, the city’s central role in its system of terror, and the difficult process of coming to terms with this legacy after 1945.
