The Botanical Garden Munich‑Nymphenburg is a 21‑hectare haven of biodiversity, cultivating over 16,000 plant species from around the world. Opened in 1914 beside Nymphenburg Palace, it combines scientific research with public enjoyment, offering both outdoor landscapes and 4,500 m² of greenhouses that recreate habitats from humid tropical forests to arid deserts. Visitors can wander through the Arboretum, the colourful Rose Garden, the medicinal and crop plant beds, and the Alpinum, one of Central Europe’s richest mountain plant collections. Seasonal highlights include orchid displays, aquatic plants, and rare blooms, while the garden also supports vital conservation work, particularly for wild bees. A satellite Alpine Garden on the Schachen, high in the Wetterstein mountains, extends its reach to over 1,000 high‑altitude species. Blending education, recreation, and natural beauty, the Botanical Garden is a living museum that inspires curiosity and respect for the plant world year‑round.

The Botanical Garden Munich-Nymphenburg is located at Menzinger Straße 65, 80638 Munich, in the Nymphenburg district. Spanning 21.2 hectares, it is one of the world’s most important botanical gardens, home to around 16,240 plant species and subspecies. The garden features an extensive glasshouse complex with tropical rainforests, deserts, and alpine environments, as well as outdoor areas including an alpine garden, arboretum, and systematic gardens arranged by plant families. Visitors can explore the serene setting with ponds, walking paths, and a café, making it ideal for education and relaxation. Nearby, the grand Nymphenburg Palace and its expansive park lie just to the south, while the surrounding district offers charming neighborhoods, museums, and good public transport connections, making the Botanical Garden part of a diverse cultural and natural experience in Munich.
