Riemer Park
Riemer Park, Munich’s third-largest public park, offers a striking example of urban transformation. Once the site of the Munich-Riem airport, the area was reimagined into a 210-hectare green space that opened in 2005 following the Bundesgartenschau horticultural fair. Designed by French landscape architects Latitude Nord, the park features a 10-hectare artificial lake, two 20-meter-high observation hills built from airport demolition material, and a 15-hectare forest planted with native species. Its geometric layout and modern aesthetic echo the site’s aviation past, with straight paths reminiscent of runways.
