Südpark is Düsseldorf’s largest and most visited park, offering 70 hectares of diverse landscapes and recreational space. Originally developed for the 1987 Federal Garden Exhibition, Südpark integrates the historic Volksgarten with two newer sections: “Vor dem Deich” and “In den Gärten.” The Volksgarten, dating back to 1895, features romantic ponds, winding paths, and lush greenery designed to evoke an idealized natural setting. “Vor dem Deich” presents a more open, meadow-like environment with a quarry pond fed by groundwater, while “In den Gärten” showcases themed horticultural areas and community gardens. The park’s 30-kilometer network of paths makes it ideal for walking, jogging, and cycling. With playgrounds, cafés, and seasonal events, Südpark is a vibrant urban oasis that reflects Düsseldorf’s commitment to green living and inclusive public spaces.

Nearby, visitors can find the Streichelzoo petting zoo, the Schwarz-Weiß 06 sports venue, and community allotment gardens.
