Schlosspark Heltorf is one of Düsseldorf’s most enchanting green spaces, blending aristocratic heritage with botanical splendor. Located in the Angermund district, the park surrounds Schloss Heltorf, a moated castle first documented in the 11th century and still privately owned by the Counts von Spee. The current neoclassical manor house dates to the early 19th century, while the surrounding 54-hectare English landscape park was designed in 1803 by Maximilian Weyhe. Open to the public from May to October on weekends and holidays, the park features rare rhododendron plantings—among the oldest in Germany—alongside winding paths, water features, and mature trees. Though the castle itself remains closed, the park offers a serene retreat and a glimpse into Düsseldorf’s noble past, making it a cherished destination for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.

Schlosspark Heltorf is located at Heltorfer Schlossallee 100 in the Angermund district of Düsseldorf, near the border with Duisburg. It surrounds the moated Schloss Heltorf, a historic water castle with a baroque outer bailey and a neoclassical manor house set within a vast 54-hectare English landscape garden designed by Maximilian Weyhe in the early 19th century. The park is renowned for its rare rhododendron plantings, the second oldest in Germany, and features a diverse range of exotic trees and three ponds hosting various bird species. Visitors enter the park at Froschenteich 22, where parking and public transport access via the U79 tram line are available. Open weekends and holidays from April to October, the park offers a tranquil natural setting not far from Düsseldorf's northern outskirts, blending historical architecture with expansive green spaces and opportunities to observe local wildlife. The manor house remains privately owned and is not open to the public, but the park provides a scenic retreat with extensive walking paths amidst rich flora and fauna.
